If you don’t know Chinese, you’ll only see characters when in China, but that’s okay! The Chinese people are extremely friendly and will definitely help you get around this huge and incredibly diverse country. From mega-cities like Beijing and Shanghai to the deserted steppes of Inner Mongolia and the mountains of Tibet, and from the ice sculptures in Harbin to the tropical tea fields of Kunming, China has it all. And if you thought it couldn’t get any more diverse, take a look at the food. Instead of just one monolithic ‘Chinese Cuisine’, there are eight Great Cuisines that make up the country’s culinary landscape. Whether you like it extremely spicy, fragrant and exotic, sweet-sour, or prefer halal cuisine, as a traveler in China you won’t be disappointed.
Unfortunately, a two-week tourist visa won’t be enough to discover all of China. You can take as many cheap flights and superfast trains across the country as you can but you’ll still struggle to see and taste everything this amazing country has to offer.
