The Philippines is a paradise on earth with more than 7,500 tropical islands making up this incredible country. Situated in the western Pacific Ocean, it is broadly categorized into three main regions from north to south, which are Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.
In the Philippines you can expect to find some of the most picturesque and postcard-worthy beaches in the world with white sand, tropical palm trees and warm clear water. As well as the stunning beaches, there are some ominous volcanoes to explore and lots of hikes to attempt.
Despite being rich in natural attractions, it is the friendly locals that are the star of the show in the Philippines. The locals in the Philippines love foreign visitors and always go out of their way to show off their amazing hospitality and culture. There are few countries around the world with more endearing locals than in the Philippines.
Getting around the Philippines can be an interesting task due to the island-travel. On land, you can find yourself in a jeepney, which is a converted american school bus that now functions as a public bus. To island-hop you can fly or take a ferry. The transport can be slow and a bit unorganized but you always know there is a beautiful beach at the end of your transit.
The capital of The Philippines is Manila, which is the largest city closely followed by Cebu City. Some of the most popular spots to visit are El Nido and Coron for incredible island-hopping, Siargao to go surfing, Sagada to visit the incredible rice terraces. However, this is just scratching the surface. With 7,500+ islands, there is a lot to explore in the Philippines.
