There is no other country that captures the history of the Silk Road so well as Uzbekistan. This country is full of history and culture and with the recent visa free policy visiting Uzbekistan has never been so easy.
Walking through the streets of cities like Khiva, Bukhara and Samarkand is like a journey back in time. It is not difficult to imagine traders with their camel caravans passing through. The historic centers still have the most beautiful mosques and madrassas you have ever seen offering a glimpse into the glory days of the Silk Road.
The legacy of the Silk Road goes beyond its beautiful islamic architecture though. Uzbekistan remains a multicultural country with friendly and welcoming people and a delicious cuisine. Carrot rice with meat, pumpkin dumplings or filled pastries from tandoor ovens are just some of the highlights of Uzbek food.
Besides Uzbekistan’s beautiful cities you can also explore the countryside. From ancient forts and castles in the desert of Khorezm to beautiful alpine sceneries in the chimgan mountains. Uzbekistan is an incredibly diverse country with lots to offer.
