At one time a British colony, Barbados is now a proud and vibrant country in its own right. While some may say it’s most famous for being the birthplace of rum and for creating such amazing artists as Rihanna, there is so much more that makes Barbados the perfect dream destination.
Barbados is one of the most beautiful Caribbean islands. Its variety of tropical beaches and stunning cliffs and vistas is in large part due to its location, between the Atlantic Ocean and Caribbean Sea.
The east coast of Barbados is battered by the powerful Atlantic Ocean. Bathsheba is stunning with its pounding waves and rocks shaped by erosion. It’s also home of the Soup Bowl which draws surfers looking for a challenge.
Animal Flower Cave to the north is where the Caribbean and Atlantic meet with the result being incredible cliffs and amazing caves just waiting to be explored.
The most beautiful beaches in Barbados are located on its western coast where the Caribbean Sea gently laps the shore. It’s the perfect location for swimming and snorkeling with sea turtles, either from shore or from a catamaran, riding a jet ski or simply basking under the warm sun.
Along the south is the historic city of Bridgetown and the unforgettable weekly Oisten Fish Fry. The island is not large and it is incredibly safe so whether spending a week in Barbados or just a day, it’s easy to rent a car and explore!
