Kiribati
The furthest flung countries on our planet are in Oceania, dropped into the Pacific hundreds or thousands of miles away. Places like Kiribati, where few travelers have the chance to visit. It’s incredibly difficult to get to by plane, and underdeveloped in tourism, drawing fewer of the luxury travelers who could afford to get there in the first place.
Whereas I could easily find hundreds of blog posts and resources on New Zealand, finding bloggers who had been to Kiribati and had updated information and a respectful writing style was extremely difficult. Most of the links included below are from official tourism websites rather than small blogs.
Pronounced Kiri-bas. Officially the Republic of Kiribati, formerly the Gilbert Islands before they gained independence as the Republic of Kiribati on 12 July 1979[44] and split into Kiribati and Tuvalu.
LANGUAGE: English, Gilbertese
CURRENCY: Australian dollar (AUD)
In the language of the Republic of Kiribati, the letters “t-i” are pronounced with an ‘s’ sound.
