Peru is typically known for one of the Seven Wonders of The World, Machu Picchu. However, outside of Machu Picchu, Peru has plenty to offer. Spanning a wide area on the western coast of South America, Peru is a country that has a little bit of everything. By the coast are some of the most stunning beaches in Peru, especially near the cities of Mancora and Tumbes. Avid hikers can take advantage of the impressive Andes that divides Peru, as cities like Huaraz and Cusco offer impressive day hikes and multi-day treks to some of the most beautiful mountains in the world. If you are a wildlife enthusiast, parts of the Amazon Rainforest lies on the eastern part of Peru. Visitors can use cities such as Iquitos or Puerto Maldonado as a base for their Amazon exploration journey. History lovers will unquestionably find something they enjoy in Peru, as the country is filled with historic relics of the past Inca Empire as well as other indigenous groups. Last but not least, if none of the above interests you, there is one thing that unites us all: food. Peru is one of the most famous gastronomical destinations in the world. In the capital of Lima alone, there are two top 50 restaurants in the world!
