  • Switchbacks in the Dades Gorge. . Shoutout to Hicham, our guide from @Morocco happiness_tours for knowing all the best stops for photos. We took this 3 day tour from Marrakesh to Fez and saw literally everything on our goal itinerary and beyond, with none of the stress of planning it ourselves and all of the magic of making friends with a wonderful guide/knowledgeable expert. . Hicham can customize a tour to whatever you want to see and do, and I could not recommend taking one of his tours more enthusiastically if I was paid.   • Perks of having a local tour guide: you get taken to spots you would NEVER find alone and meet all their friends. 👥 . Our guide, Hicham, took us to some friends of his who owned a store where they dressed us in traditional Berber clothes (including this scarf which turned out to be important in the desert!) and I was given this beautiful henna design. 🧣 . The story goes that Hicham came by this store once and learned from the father (who has several daughters) that his eldest daughter was going to be taken out of school so she could help in the store. Hicham made a deal that if his daughter was allowed to stay in school, then he would bring all of his tour guests to their shop to meet them, try traditional Berber clothes, and hopefully want to support their business. . Guess who bought a scarf!   • The last reunion I had before my return was with my college roomie and fellow adventurer, Melissa. She’s been literally traveling and working around the world for the past 15 months or so (currently in Costa Rica 🇨🇷) but is soon to be resettling in Chicago and I am selfishly excited that she’ll be closer.
